Purity the safe, free and top rated browser extension for cleaning up and customizing Facebook. Get it via fbpurity.com

F.B. Purity v38.1.1 is out now! Fed up with Facebook’s “Most Relevant” sorting for comments? Noticing lots of missing comments? Don’t agree with their choice of “Relevant” comments? Never fear, FBP has 2 new options that let you set your own default Comment Sorting Mode, “Comment Sort : All comments” and “Comment Sort : Newest“. If you select either of these options, whenever you open a post, FBP should automatically switch the comments on that post to your choice of sort mode.

As with many of FBP’s options, these 2 options will only work if the Facebook language setting is set to English.

Theres also a new Hide “Chat with AI” Hide Left Column Link option for hiding the “Chat with AI” link in the left column, its located under the Left Column Links heading on the FBP options screen.

Please note there are currently 2 versions of FBP available v38.1 and v38.1.1 the 38.1.1 release is a really minor update that fixes the location of the new options on the FBP options screen, as they were slightly out of place in v38.1 though it doesn’t affect the functionality of the options.

If you already have FBP installed, it should auto update at some point to the new version.

PSA: Facebook has currently disabled searching for posts in the Facebook search page, however there is a simple workaround (this is for the desktop website version of Facebook) do a search via the search box at the top left of the page, then select “Videos”, choose your sort mode, and your date selection, then do the search. Now in the browser’s URL/Address bar right at the top, change the word “videos” to “posts”, and Facebook will now show you the search results just for posts.

For those who don’t already know F.B. Purity is a safe, free & top rated desktop web browser extension that lets you clean up and customize Facebook. It has been reviewed and highly rated in The Washington Post and CNET and has over 478,000 users worldwide.

Seems like “Comment Sort : Newest“ is not working. I assumed it means, that when I check the box the comments will be sorted from newest to oldest, so when I open the post I see first the newest comments. Currently that is not the case, it still shows first comments being 9y old, either way – if I have the checkbox checked or not. :(

There is on post I follow that has about 1.7k comments over 9 years. It is painful to scroll-load-scroll down to latest ones.

Yes, I have the latest 38.1.1 version.

all the fbp option does is automatically open the comment sort menu at the top of the comments list and click the option you requested, which in your case is “newest”, so any issue with the actual sorting that occurs, is down to facebook, and is nothing to do with fbp.
