A recent Facebook code change broke FBP’s Newsfeed Filtering system for many people. Facebook are rolling out the change quite rapidly now, so if it hasn’t affected you yet, it probably will reach you pretty soon. By filtering i mean hiding / blocking / filtering out posts from the Newsfeed. Basically Facebook have started using non standard HTML tags in their site code, which threw FBP’s code out of whack. The good news is that I have come up with a fix. FBP V38.2.0 is currently available for installing/updating via install.fbpurity.com, most installations of fbp should autoupdate themselves to the latest version. But if it hasn’t autoupdated by now, you can try re-installing it.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused, but thats the nature of browser extensions that are tied to a site’s inner workings. If the site changes, it can break some of the extension’s functionality. In this case its mainly the filtering capabilities that are affected, many of FBP’s other functions should still be working ok such as the “Comment Sort : All Comments ” and “Comment Sort : Newest” options for example.

If you appreciate all the work that goes into updating / maintaining / fixing / supporting FBP and would like to show you it, you can do so by donating via https://donate.fbpurity.com

Thanks very much to all the people who have supported FBP over the years, its very much appreciated!

Best Regards,

Steve

I think the new update has eliminated sponsored ads. You’re the best.

Thanks for what you do Steve. I really dislike advertising being shoved in my face all the time. My opinion generally of marketing is the same as Bill Hicks. I look forward to the Firefox extension being operational. Bye the way, I notice that now Facebook gives you the options of either paying or agreeing to all their adds and cookies. Can you still stop the adds?

fbp’s sponsored posts hiding is still working for most people, but facebook are constantly testing out new code on groups of people, to try and break adblocking extensions.

Greetings and thank you for the work that you do. I gather that Firefox is still affected by the change? I moved to Chrome for now but from time to time I try Firefox again and still see the problem.

if its working in chrome and not firefox, make sure you have the latest version of fbp in firefox, as it sounds like it may not have autoupdated
