While I figure out how to fix this, here are some possible solutions for hiding/avoiding the ads:

1/ One way to avoid the ads on Facebook Newsfeed, is to use the Favorites feed, you can add up to 30 people/pages to the favorites list, and then view the favorites feed, it should display without any ads. For info on how to use the Favorites feed go here: facebook.com/help/1634545223376778

———

2/ If the ads are mostly for websites with a .com web address, you could add the following to FBP’s Text Filter or Auto Hide filter

\\.com

This will filter out any posts with links (URLs) ending in “.com” again this is a bit drastic, as it will filter out many more posts than just ads. You can add any other domain name endings you find showing in ads, for example if you are in the uk, you might want to also add

\\.co\\.uk

To your Text Filter or Auto Hide filter. Of course there are many other domain name endings, including \\.org \\.net \\.org.uk etc, if you add all the ones that are frequently displayed in ads shown in your feed, you will notice it cuts down a large number of the sponsored posts you see. Of course that will filter out any other normal posts that just feature any links with those domain endings.

————-

3/ This one is also a bit drastic. As most Sponsored Posts privacy settings are “Shared with Public”, if you put the following text (including the preceding dot) into FBP’s Text Filter or Auto Hide filter:

· Shared with Public

That will filter out all publicly shared posts from the Newsfeed, which will include most Sponsored Posts. Please note if your facebook language setting is not set to English you would need to use the equivalent text that Facebook users to indicate its a public post, in your own language.

————–

4/ This one is probably the simplest solution of all. Facebook does not show ads on every page load of the Newsfeed. So one way to clear the ads if you are seeing them in the Newsfeed, is to simply refresh the page. Many times this will work to clear the ads.

————–

5/ If you have the Microsft Edge browser installed on your computer, or if you can install it, use that web browser and install the FBP extension on there. From my testing and other users reports, FBP’s ad blocking should still work in that browser.

————–

6/ If you don’t fancy using Microsoft Edge, or don’t fancy having to install a whole new browser in the first place (Mac & Linux) It’s still possible to get the same effect from solution number 5 by using a User Agent switcher extension to temporarily change your existing browser’s User Agent identification string to make it look to Facebook like you are using the latest version of Microsoft Edge, when you actually aren’t. This may be a bit more too technologically advanced for some people, but I just tested it and it works.

There are User Agent switcher extensions available for most browsers, and there are quite a few, so I wont list them all here. Just search your browser’s extension directory for a User Agent Switcher extension, then if it doesn’t have a setting for the latest version of Edge, hopefully it has a setting that lets you set a custom User Agent, and you can paste in the latest User Agent for Edge (appropriate for your operating system)

For example.
